202 Restaurant in Notting Hill is a store/restaurant. They don’t take lunch reservations and brunch on weekends is the best time to go. There is usually a line, but it moves quickly. In case the line is crazy, Daylesford is next door and a great option. Good news is you can always kill time by wandering downstairs to check their clothing store and some retail therapy…….
Went for a quick brunch with two girlfriends on Sunday before some furniture shopping (one of them is moving flats). We didn’t linger unfortunately as we had a full agenda for the afternoon, but the people watching is always very fun and the food delivers. Simple and consistent with fresh ingredients.
What we ate:
Prawn and avocado salad with chili lime dressing (picture above): My standard order, I can’t seem to ever order anything else. This is just too delicious. I probably don’t eat enough salads since moving to London (something about the weather I guess…), but this one has the right balance of protein, good fats (loads of avocado), greens and the dressing has a subtle kick to it. It is bright and happy!
Rocket salad with goat cheese and pomegranate: Fresh and light, but I would be hungry if I only ate this as it lacks protein (@LomaxPT has thought me well). But my friend had been sick and was not hungry. Still very good, and nice balance of textures from the pomegranate, pumpkin seeds and cheese
Eggs florentine: Straightforward and a brunch staple, apart from the fact my friend likes her eggs almost hard boiled so no oozing yolk. As a result I refused to try and I can’t comment .
Iced coffee to try to help me through the day after a bad night sleep
