Our Rating

In the eternal pursuit of potentially moving neighbourhoods in London, we decided to explore Parsons Green last weekend, as my friend Paul had told me about a new spin studio that has opened there called Ride Republic and I wanted to see what else was around there. My friend Chris, who recently moved from the US, also now lives there too so suddenly Parsons Green appeared on our radar. We walked from Chelsea through many cute areas and first stumbled on Eel Brook commons which was absolutely cute and lively. The whole neighbourhood is very charming and quite different from Kensington where we currently live, as they have lots of independent restaurants with fresh looking produce and charm such as Hally’s.

We had heard of Hally’s from Chris and decided to go there for brunch and he has right, Hally’s is absolutely adorable. They have loads of tasty looking pastries sitting at the counter at the entrance and the space is bright and happy, and so is the service, and the food.

What we ate:

Avocado on toast: a very traditional breakfast these days and probably one of the most photographed dishes on Instagram. No wonder as it is a damn good breakfast and in this case, perfectly executed, with brightly green and perfectly ripe avocados, crunchy sourdough toast and a well poached egg with an oozing deep yellow yolk. Stewart of course, who is addicted to all pork products, asked for sausages on the side and they were slightly spicy and very good.

Poached eggs, toast, mushrooms, spinach and smoked salmon: since I was still on the crazy no benzoates or dairy allergy diet for two more days (who is counting???) this was the perfect brunch plate. And once again, done to perfection with every component well prepared. The smoked salmon was not too salty and not too thin or thick, the spinach not overly greasy, the mushrooms al-dente and just as in Stewart’s dish, the eggs were amazing.

Macha latte: thick and delicious with a hint of sweetness.

Blueberry crumble cake: we took this to go and Stewart had some that evening and left some for me to try post diet, and it was yummy, sweet and good. I would want to try their chocolate chip cookies on another visit as they looked decadent.

In sum: perfect brunch spot with friendly service and a fun vibe.

  • […] No doubt Hally’s is the cutest spot in the area! We go there when we want to show the area to friends who have never visited. On the other hand, Hally’s usually has the longest lines and, despite the gorgeous cakes at the entrance, we actually have come to love the food at other places even more. But Hally’s has a great menu with lots of good options; go for their tasty avocado toast or either the full English or vegetarian breakfast—both are well executed. Their cheerfully green matcha latte is delicious and it’s hard to get away without taking a pastry to go…but the banana bread from Chairs and Coffee is better! If you’re looking to get you drink on in the morning, Stewart (aka hubby) thinks Hally’s has the brightest cocktails for your eye opener. I also have a full review here: Hally’s Parsons Green. […]
