La Fromagerie

La Fromagerie cheese room

Our Rating

La Fromagerie is the perfect lunch spot after some shopping at Selfridges (http://www.selfridges.com/) and just 10-15 minute walk away. Most people know La Fromagerie from being the best cheese shop in London (that at least is my opinion). I think it is also a great lunch spots. They serve obviously fantastic cheese boards but also, fresh delicious salads that change every day, quiches and good looking desserts (I haven’t tried them yet). They also have a little mini grocery store with fresh fruits and vegetables, cold cuts and sweets.

We of course stopped by the cheese room before and after lunch. Before to explore what we wanted to have at lunch and after to take some home for the husband, who missed shopping (he was devastated) to go see Star Trek in Concert at Royal Albert Hall (http://www.royalalberthall.com/tickets/star-trek/default.aspx).

What we ate:

The spring cheese board: We ordered the small option as there were other things we wanted to try. We got five different cheeses, one goat and all the others cow but with different textures and flavor profiles. My only complaint is that they serve it with crackers instead of bread, and their breads are also delicious. Had to order some extra bread as we couldn’t resist.

Smoked Salmon Plate: three types of smoked salmon – Hansen & Lydersen brand (aka, traditional, thinly sliced), maldon salt and gravalax. The maldon was my favorite as it was thicker and saltier and my mother loved the gravlax. It was a generous portion and absolutely yummy.

We also ordered one of their daily salads which had farro, hazelnuts and beets (red and a very pale almost white one): fresh, balanced and perfect.

We skipped desserts as I wanted to go to La Patisserie Des Reves (www.lapatisseriedesreves.com/uk/)as I had been dying to go since they opened. Unfortunately, we were doing more shopping and they don’t have little tables there where you can sit, order a coffee and taste the gorgeous desserts. next time I will get some and go straight home.
