Shame on us we haven’t been to Terrace (http://www.theterraceonhollandstreet.co.uk/) before. It’s the fancy sister restaurant to our beloved Kensington Square Kitchen. We should have done it sooner and we will be back again. Adorable little restaurant (maybe 20 seats) on Holland Street which is one of the cutest streets on Kensington.
What we ate
Soda bread! Was a treacle soda bread, sooooooo good. Glad they didn’t bring more or we would have kept eating
Three of us went for the multi colored gorgeous beet salad with sprinkled hard boiled eggs and anchovy vinaigrette. I went for despite the anchovy dressing and didn’t regret it. Perfect balance, nice texture from the eggs and anchovies for a salty taste
Pork terrine: not spectacular but still good
Cod with pea purée and a brown shrimp bernaise: Perfectly flaky gorgeous white fish, cooked well and so tasty.
Smoked haddock on a potatoe and cabbage purée: also great and a toss up with the cod
Pork with braised pork cheek, kale, smoked bacon and apple sauce: husband hesitated as he doesn’t like sweet sauces but he was assured apple sauce was tart. Pink and perfectly cooked once again
Chocolate fondant with coffee ice cream whiskey raisin syrup: could have been a tiny bit more gooey but delicious and more fun than usual with the whiskey (always the case)
Malt whisky cranachan (aka triffle) with raspberry and black pepper sorbet: we were too intrigued not to try. Good but chocolate cake with the salted caramel we ordered on the side was better (comes with ale tart we didn’t order)
Must!!!! bread, whiskey raisin sauce, fish dishes
