My friend Oli invited us recently for a Ragtop Fern’s BBQ party at his house with his food and art friends. We met ages ago as we sat next to each other at dinner at in San Francisco. Oli had flown in alone just to eat at Coi and seemed to be even more food obsessed than I am! We became friends at first bite and have shared amazing food experiences like a memorable trip to Alba’s truffle festival.
For his BBQ he convinced the guys from Ragtop Fern’s BBQ who usually just cook for a few hours every weekend to the public, out of their backyard in Korea Town, to come and cook for his 30 friends. We were lucky to be among the few selected.
He also had some of his other food obsessed friends (I hate the term foodie) come with goodies such as the absurdly good Mac & Cheese from Monkey Bar and the spicy and great green beans from @all.foods.considered.
The meal started with ribs and was followed by pulled pork – both delicious. The ribs were second only to my husbands which are the best ribs I ever had. Rag Top Fern’s pork was tender and absolutely scrumptious.
For dessert people brought loads of goodies, cupcakes, cobblers, cookies and cakes. A total feast of absolutely amazing food and great company.
So…..it seems like Ragtop Ferns will soon be joining Graham Elliot in a new Bravo TV show so we caught them before the lines became impossible…wohoooo!!!
