We had one breakfast in Glasgow before heading to Isle of Skye for a weekend of hiking, wind and rain and a meal at Three Chimneys but wanted a good breakfast before our five hour drive. After a lot of reading and combing through what places opened when, the options for spots opening before 9am seemed limited and not encouraging. But, as we were being overly ambitious with the hope of starting our drive early and ended up just ready for breakfast at 9am, suddenly a slew of possibilities opened and allowing us to go to the place I really wanted to try = Kember & Jones.
I haven’t been to other breakfast places in Glasgow but know that no other spots could be better and that Kember & Jones serves the best breakfast in Glasgow. I really wish there were places like Kember & Jones in London and they would be my go to weekend places for sure.
They have great looking prepared foods and pastries but also a great menu of cooked dishes.
What we ate:
Greek yoghurt with berries and granola: a simple breakfast staple but the yoghurt was very rich and creamy and the berries were perfectly sweet and ripe. They served it with a massive portion of granola that didn’t wow me as much as the rest.
Waffles with bacon and maple syrup: perfectly flavoured waffles with abundant bacon and covered in maple syrup. OMG, now that I write it, better that they don’t have this in London or I would quickly gain 100lbs as it was addictive and the perfect food combo. Stewart doesn’t usually like savoury and sweet mixed and kept telling himself he wouldn’t eat the whole thing, how wrong was he as he wiped the last drops of maple syrup with his finger? It was really divine!
The cappuccinos were also delicious and we took a lot of their baked goods on our road trip…..
