One of my favorite weekend activities is going to brunch after a good workout session (my friend Kat who was landing that morning threatened to break our friendship when she heard I was at the gym post big night out). My friend Miles (and Blog editor extraordinaire) was in town and I suggested Hayden, a new cute restaurant located within the Platform complex in Culver City.
The restaurant is cute but I wish the outdoor space was a bit bigger. But we still were able to score a table for 5 with some good California breeze. The system is relaxed, you order at the counter and they bring it to the table.
Big advantage of having a bigger group is that you get to try multiple things, but it doesn’t work as successfully when everyone orders the same thing….
Banana bread: ingredients on the menu-banana, banana, sumac and banana and the most beautiful presentation-impossible to resist. We ordered two slices for the 5 of us and devoured it. Moist, not overly sweet as the perfect snack pre and post our savory dishes (I saved a bite as dessert).

Sweet and salty waffle: Stewart loved the waffles with savory toppings at one of our favorite brunch spots in London called Hally’s so he couldn’t resist it when he saw it on the menu. They were fluffy and sweet and with a good balance with the prosciutto and the egg. He just wishes they served two poached eggs instead of one.

In sum: totally tasty food I was already craving going back to as we walked out. The only issue is I loved the outside tables but ones inside didn’t have the same charm so hoping I can always score outdoor seats next time !

That is literally the prettiest banana bread I have ever seen! The Japanese bowl looks great and definitely my kind of breakfast…but I can’t help but be boring [or just Australian, perhaps] and go for the avo on toast. So long as it is well-seasoned, it is definitely up there as my favourite breakfast!!
